Breckenridge Ski Resort has confirmed that the resort’s brand new Peak 6 expanded terrain and lifts will open for the first time on Christmas Day.
The opening of Peak 6 represents one of the biggest and most notable ski area terrain expansions in North America in the past decade, and will be the first at Breckenridge since the Peak 7 expansion in 2002.
Guests who visit Breckenridge on Dec 25 will be able to ride the resort’s two brand new chairlifts, the Zendo Chair and Kensho SuperChair, which will both start operations for the first time that day.
23% increase in the ski area
Once guests arrive at Peak 6 via the new lifts, they will have access to the above-tree line intermediate and expert terrain that the new expansion will become famous for. Peak 6 will include 400 acres of lift-served terrain and 143 acres of hike-to terrain, representing a 23% increase in the resort’s skiable area.
Lifts, trails and terrain for opening day on Peak 6 will be dependent upon weather conditions and snow coverage.
“This project has been years in the making,” said Pat Campbell, COO of Breckenridge Ski Resort. “Thanks to the incredible efforts of the entire project team, we are poised to be able to open Peak 6 on schedule, and deliver the holiday gift of a lifetime to our guests from around the world.”
