Never one to sit on its laurels Val d\u2019Is\u00e8re has announced plans for the largest and most ambitious building project seen in the French Alps<\/a> over the past 20 years, since the creation of Arc 1950.<\/p>\n

Le Coin de Val<\/strong><\/p>\n

Le Coin de Val<\/a> is a \u20ac200m (\u00a3170m) redevelopment of the heart of the village which will begin in autumn 2017 and run over five years.<\/p>\n

This huge project will add 900 new guest beds in two luxury hotels and two tourist residences, along with new chalets, shops, services and restaurants.<\/p>\n

New lift investment<\/strong><\/p>\n

The development comes off the back of the relaunch of the Solaise ski area<\/a> in December 2016, which saw \u00a311m invested in a new gondola to replace the old chairlift. The new lift can carry up to 3600 skiers per hour and increased the uphill capacity by 40%. Also created were new lifts, a beginner area and an American-style mid-mountain day lodge.<\/p>\n

Allied to an excellent snow record caused by the unique micro-climate that Val d\u2019Is\u00e8re<\/a> enjoys at the end of the Tarentaise valley, it\u2019s another step forward for this progressive resort.<\/p>\n

Ski to the door<\/strong><\/p>\n

The new \u2018Le Coin de Val\u2019 development will cover 22,000 square metres, replacing a range of buildings constructed in the 1980s. The area concerned is bounded by the bus station roundabout, Dick\u2019s Tea Bar and a 250m stretch of the Avenue Olympique towards La Daille.<\/p>\n

The new buildings will be constructed in the traditional Savoyarde style of stone, slate and wood and will incorporate a guest arrival centre within an enclosed bus station. An underground walkway will connect the complex to the lifts and guests will be able to ski back to the door.<\/p>\n

Environmental planning<\/strong><\/p>\n

Environmental concerns are a key part of the planning for Le Coin de Val. Rainwater and snowmelt will be used in the buildings\u2019 sanitation system and geothermal energy will heat rooms and apartments.<\/p>\n
