{"id":1239,"date":"2017-12-13T13:24:04","date_gmt":"2017-12-13T13:24:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.chaletline.co.uk\/blog\/?p=1239"},"modified":"2017-12-13T13:24:04","modified_gmt":"2017-12-13T13:24:04","slug":"santa-claus-is-coming-to-town-in-verbier","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/chaletline.co.uk\/blog\/2017\/12\/santa-claus-is-coming-to-town-in-verbier\/","title":{"rendered":"Santa Claus is coming to town (in Verbier)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\u201cSanta Claus is coming to town, Santa Claus is coming to town, Santa Claus is coming to town\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Those words might have been running through your head if you were in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chaletline.co.uk\/verbier\">Verbier<\/a> last week as the resort set a new world record for the most Santa Claus(es) skiing at the same time.<\/p>\n<p>Officially, 2656 amateur skiers dressed up in the red and white of everyone\u2019s favourite man with a beard last weekend in Verbier.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1240\" src=\"https:\/\/www.chaletline.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/santa_verbier.jpg\" alt=\"christmas in verbier\" width=\"800\" height=\"449\" srcset=\"https:\/\/chaletline.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/santa_verbier.jpg 800w, https:\/\/chaletline.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/santa_verbier-300x168.jpg 300w, https:\/\/chaletline.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/santa_verbier-768x431.jpg 768w, https:\/\/chaletline.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/santa_verbier-190x107.jpg 190w, https:\/\/chaletline.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/santa_verbier-60x34.jpg 60w, https:\/\/chaletline.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/santa_verbier-400x225.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 800px) 100vw, 800px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>A representative from Guinness World Records was present to validate the claim.<\/p>\n<p>To maximise St Nicholas numbers a special free train was put on between Geneva and Ch\u00e2ble for any Santas unable to find sufficient reindeer to fly them to the Swiss resort.<\/p>\n<p>The Father Christmases may also have been tempted by the offer of a mulled wine and a 2 for 1 at \u2018Chalet Carlsberg\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>The party continued in the resort with raclette on offer and the screening of the film \u2018The Rookie\u2019 at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chaletline.co.uk\/verbier\/catered_chalets\">Verbier <\/a>cinema (although we\u2019re not sure how this fits in).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Smashed the old record<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Verbier\u2019s previous record was set last year with 1200 Santas, with that figure eclipsing the previous record of 827 Santas at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/pg\/skicrestedbutte\">Crested Butte Mountain Resort<\/a> in November 2015.<\/p>\n<p>Crested Butte have a Santa day every year and 2017\u2019s took place last weekend as well.
