Despite an incredible winter season with the best snowfall for many years, Courchevel is already thinking ahead to ensure that next season starts with snow on the pistes.<\/p>\n

With global warming increasingly an issue and after a very warm summer in 2017, Courchevel<\/a> will be \u2018snow farming\u2019 through the summer of 2018.<\/p>\n

Snowfarming in Courchevel<\/strong><\/p>\n

S3V \u2013 the company that operates the lifts in Courchevel – is experimenting with snowfarming for the first time this summer. The ultimate goal is to ensure that that the \u00c9mile-Allais stadium is in perfect shape for the Women\u2019s Alpine Skiing World Cup that the resort hosts in December.<\/p>\n

The resort hopes that 20,000 cubic metres of snow will be stored until next winter. That\u2019s enough on its own to cover one third of the race stadium.<\/p>\n

To do this, S3V have laid down 1800 square metres of white tarpaulin, which has been stretched over the piste above panels specially designed to keep the snow cool.<\/p>\n

Summer in Courchevel<\/strong><\/p>\n

This strange white spot on the mountain is not the only reason to check out Courchevel this summer.<\/p>\n

There are free ski lifts from the 7th of July to the 31st of August, as well as free parking and shuttle buses around resort.<\/p>\n

Mountain biking in Courchevel<\/strong><\/p>\n

It\u2019s a great spot for hiking and walking and for mountain bikers there\u2019s plenty of options. There are two new downhill (red) runs, 3 km long with a 930m vertical drop and 2.5 km long with a 700m drop respectively.<\/p>\n

If you feel you need a little \u2018turbo boost\u2019, then there\u2019s also a new e-bike route, with electric mountain bikes become more popular as a way to open up access the mountain to all.<\/p>\n
