There\u2019s plenty of changes in Courchevel for this winter as the resort begins its preparations for hosting the Alpine Ski World Championships in 2023.<\/p>\n

Courchevel<\/a> and M\u00e9ribel in Les 3 Vall\u00e9es will jointly organize the 2023 World Champs, with Courchevel hosting the men’s events and M\u00e9ribel<\/a> hosting the women’s races as they did at the Albertville 1992 Winter Olympics.<\/p>\n

Saalbach Hinterglemm lost out to the joint French bid, which will be the first time that France hosted the event since it was held in Val d’Is\u00e8re in 2009.<\/p>\n

Courchevel investing EUR42m in infrastructure<\/strong><\/p>\n

Courchevel has announced it has invested EUR42 million in improvements for this winter season, including a new cable car and more snow cannons.<\/p>\n

Following last year\u2019s new Ariondaz gondola and the Moriond Racing toboggan run in Courchevel 1650<\/a>, the biggest development is the new Grangettes lift.<\/p>\n

This is a new gondola from Courchevel Village at 1550m to 1850 and will replace the existing 4-seater Les Grangettes gondola. The new 10-person cabins will take 2 minutes 55 seconds instead of five minutes and carry 2400 skiers per hour. The cabins will also light up on the inside when it\u2019s dark outside.<\/p>\n

\nThe Croisette in 1850 is being upgraded<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Croisette building in Courchevel 1850 will also be updated to improve access to the Verdons, Chenus, Jardin Alpin and Grangettes gondolas.<\/p>\n

A key part of the preparations for 2023 is the creation of a new multi-service building in Courchevel Le Praz<\/a>. This will offer 500 covered parking spaces as well as a new base station, tourist office, S3V sales counters, a children’s games room, a medical centre and lockers for ski storage.<\/p>\n

More snow cannons<\/strong><\/p>\n

If that wasn\u2019t enough, Courchevel is also investing EUR1 million in 26 new snow machines to be added to Lac des Creux & Rama pistes.<\/p>\n
