{"id":1539,"date":"2019-05-08T08:28:16","date_gmt":"2019-05-08T08:28:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.chaletline.co.uk\/blog\/?p=1539"},"modified":"2019-05-08T08:28:26","modified_gmt":"2019-05-08T08:28:26","slug":"new-road-for-cyclists-only-from-courchevel-to-meribel-opens","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/chaletline.co.uk\/blog\/2019\/05\/new-road-for-cyclists-only-from-courchevel-to-meribel-opens\/","title":{"rendered":"New road for cyclists only from Courchevel to M\u00e9ribel opens"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In July, Courchevel and M\u00e9ribel will open&nbsp;a new road exclusively dedicated to cyclists.<\/p>\n<p>The Col de la Loze will cross the ridge between the two resorts at 2304m and will be the&nbsp;first French pass over 2000m to be cleared of snow.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" style=\"border: none; overflow: hidden;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/plugins\/video.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2FChaletline%2Fvideos%2F871204589884424%2F&amp;show_text=0&amp;width=560\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>7th highest pass in France<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It will become the seventh highest pass in France and the third highest in the Savoie after the Col de L\u2019Iseran above Val d&#8217;Is\u00e8re and the Galibier by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chaletline.co.uk\/serre-chevalier\">Serre Chevalier<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The new pass will be the first step towards the forthcoming&nbsp;\u2018Via 3 Vall\u00e9es\u2019. This new route will allow cyclists to cross the entire Les 3 Vall\u00e9es from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chaletline.co.uk\/courchevel-1850\">Courchevel<\/a> to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chaletline.co.uk\/val-thorens\">Val Thorens<\/a> and enjoy breath-taking views from some of the highest peaks in the Alps.<\/p>\n<p>Before the connection from M\u00e9ribel, the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.courchevelsportsoutdoor.com\/detail-evenement\/event\/show\/evenement\/slug\/contre-la-montre-eiffage-du-col-de-la-loze\/\">first official Col de la Loze race<\/a> will take place on 12 May 2019 in a time trial race open to professionals and amateurs.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-1540\" src=\"https:\/\/www.chaletline.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/unnamed-3.jpg\" alt=\"col de la loze\" width=\"575\" height=\"367\" srcset=\"https:\/\/chaletline.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/unnamed-3.jpg 575w, https:\/\/chaletline.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/unnamed-3-300x191.jpg 300w, https:\/\/chaletline.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/unnamed-3-190x121.jpg 190w, https:\/\/chaletline.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/unnamed-3-60x38.jpg 60w, https:\/\/chaletline.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/unnamed-3-400x255.jpg 400w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 575px) 100vw, 575px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Time Trial over two distances&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Eiffage Trophy<\/strong>: 22.6&nbsp;km, 1510m vertical ascent, starting from Le Carrey (845m) at 10am<\/p>\n<p><strong>Felt Trophy<\/strong>: 8.6&nbsp;km, 580m vertical ascent, starting from Courchevel (1760m) at 11am<\/p>\n<p>While there will be some top-quality competitors, the emphasis will be on the ambience and all competitors will receive tasty local food on arrival.&nbsp;If you can\u2019t make the race on 12 May, there will also be time trials on 30 June and 28 July.<\/p>\n<p><strong>3 Valleys Addict Tour<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Keen mountain bikers can also join the Les 3 Vall\u00e9es Addict Tour. This takes place on 13 and 14 July with a route through Courchevel and M\u00e9ribel valleys.<\/p>\n<p>https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=0eCN4NF_hz0&#038;t=3s<\/p>\n<p><strong>Haute Route<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Also coming to Les 3 Vall\u00e9es is the largest amateur cycling stage race in France: the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hauteroute.org\/\" class=\"broken_link\">Haute Route<\/a>.
