for Team GB in New Zealand"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The southern\nhemisphere season has seen some great early results for Team GB with podium\nresults in both ski and snowboard events this week. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Ormerod scores silver on return<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Despite being out\nof World Cup action for almost two years, Katie Ormerod rejoined the world\u2019s\nelite as she as she competed in Cardrona, New Zealand at the weekend. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The 2019\/20\nSnowboard World Cup Big Air season started at the NZ resort with qualification\ntaking place a day earlier than scheduled due to an ominous weather forecast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In her first World Cup appearance in 629 days, Ormerod was third after the first run, then improved to second place with a backside 720 that they would be able to run the final on Saturday morning, but the\nconditions weren\u2019t good enough to allow a competitive event to take place. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This meant the\nresults from qualifying stood, leaving Ormerod to earn her seventh overall\nWorld Cup podium (six in big air, one in slopestyle).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Finnish veteran Enni Rukajvari took her fourth career World Cup victory to edge out Ormerod, while Norway\u2019s two-time World Championship medallist Silje Norendal was third.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img season\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This result was the\nperfect birthday present for Ormerod who celebrated her 22<sup>nd<\/sup> birthday\non Sunday. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m so excited to\ncome second in my first World Cup back since injury,\u201d said Ormerod. \u201cIt was\ngreat to ride in such a high-level contest and I\u2019m really happy with my riding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt couldn\u2019t be a\nbetter way for me to start the season.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ormerod now draws\neven with Zoe Gillings-Brier and James \u2018Woodsy\u2019 Woods with seven top-three\nWorld Cup finishes, equal fifth on Britain\u2019s all-time list.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The next Snowboard\nWorld Cup big air competition will take place in Italy in November.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Bronze for Zoe Atkin<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Ormerod\u2019s success\nwas followed up on Wednesday with a 3<sup>rd<\/sup> place for Zoe Atkin in the Ski Halfpipe Finals, also held in Cardrona. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Zoe is the younger sister of Olympic medal\nwinning Izzy Atkin, who picked up the bronze in the Ski Slopestyle at the\nPyeongChang 2018 Winter Olympics. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Still only 16 years old, Zoe is moving up the ranks quickly.
