The lift system in Les 3 Vall\u00e9es \u2013 the world\u2019s largest ski area \u2013 is already impressive but look out for some more upgrades coming to M\u00e9ribel this winter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are two major projects to look out for: C\u00f4te Brune and Rhodos<\/p>\n\n\n\n

C\u00f4te Brune changes from chairlift to high-speed gondola<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

One of the most exciting developments is the transformation of the C\u00f4te Brune chairlift \u2013 originally installed in 1991 – into a state-of-the-art 10-seater gondola.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This crucial link from M\u00e9ribel to Col de la Chambre, allowing access to Val Thorens<\/a> and Les Menuires<\/a>, has historically been forced to close in higher winds and can be a very cold and long chairlift.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new Leitner gondola will increase capacity to 2600 skiers and snowboarders per hour (compared with 2200 before) and increase the speed to 7 metres per second, while fifty enclosed, modern cabins will protect up to 10 passengers from the cold and the wind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As with many new lifts there will be a bonus for the local flora and fauna as the number of pylons will be reduced from 25 to just 14.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Facelift for the Rhodos Cable Car<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

M\u00e9ribel\u2019s Rhodos cable car is also getting a major facelift, with new cabins improving comfort for skiers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The base and mid-stations will also both be updated for winter 2025\/26, with the top station upgrade due to be completed in time for the 2026\/27 winter season.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
