If watching the Winter Olympics has left you buzzing with excitement, and wanting to sample the G-forces and high speeds of the bobsleigh yourself, then did you know that La Plagne is the answer?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You don\u2019t need to be a professional athlete to experience bobsleighing on the same Olympic track used at the 1992 Albertville Games and that will feature again in the 2034 Winter Games.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The La Plagne Olympic Bobsleigh Track<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

La Plagne\u2019s bobsleigh, skeleton and luge track was built for the 1992 Winter Olympics and remains France\u2019s only Olympic sliding track.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Located just below La Plagne 1800<\/a>, it is used by professional athletes for training, but it is also available for holidaymakers and thrill-seekers to try the same twists, turns and speed that make bobsleigh such a spectacle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are a few different options for your descent, depending on how daring you\u2019re feeling<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2018Bob Raft\u2019<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The \u2018Bob Raft\u2019 is a four-person, self-guided and self-braked sled, meaning you can enjoy the Olympic track, without needing to have any driving skills or deep experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It\u2019s not for the faint-hearted though as you\u2019ll still hit speeds of around 80 km\/h!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It works perfectly for groups of friends, and especially for families (the minimum height is 1.3m\/4\u20193\u201d).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2018Speed Luge\u2019<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

If you\u2019re looking for a solo thrill, then this semi-recumbent sled will give you a heart-racing ride.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You\u2019ll reach speeds of around 90 km\/h on your own\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The minimum age for the speed luge is 16 years old and will cost you the adrenaline junkies around \u00a3120.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2018Bob Racing\u2019\u2026with a Pro<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This is the closest you\u2019ll get to a competitive run – barring an unexpected selection for Team GB!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Guided by a professional pilot in a four-person bobsleigh, you will feel the real pressure of G-forces at speeds of up to 120 km\/h.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Again the minimum age for this is 16 years old and, as you\u2019d expect, it costs more at \u00a3130 per person.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n

When to try it?<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The track is typically open from mid-December to late March, with public access usually limited to the late afternoon and early evening.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
