It may be top secret to some, but James Bond – 007, the most famous spy in the world, has been filming the 24th Bond film, Spectre, in the Austrian<\/a> Tirol.<\/p>\n

We’ve been expecting you, Mr Bond…<\/strong><\/p>\n

This will be Daniel Craig’s 4th outing as Bond and will see him visit S\u00f6lden<\/a> in the East Tirol region.<\/p>\n

Filming took place in January 2014 and locations in Norway and Italy<\/a> were also considered.<\/p>\n

This was the largest production ever filmed in Tirol and the economic benefits, short and long term will be substantial.<\/p>\n

Filming will no doubt bring more interest in the Austrian Tirol and while we can’t guarantee you will bump into 007 – or other stars such as Ralph Fiennes, Christoph Waltz and Monica Bellucci – it must be time to book your catered chalet in Solden<\/a> now!<\/p>\n

Filming took place January and February<\/strong><\/p>\n

A production office was set up in S\u00f6lden in the summer of 2014 and 22 days of filming will took place from mid-January to February 2015. The substantial crew consisted of 500 people, including 150 Austrians.<\/p>\n

6 million euros\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

The economic benefit to the region is massive. \u00a0It’s estimated that the movie has brought 6 million euros into the Tirol.<\/p>\n

Around 26,000 overnight stays were generated by the film crew alone, but the media attention (such as this blog post!) will mean a boost in tourism for years to come.<\/p>\n

The last Bond film, Skyfall, was watched by over 130 million people around globally.<\/p>\n

Ian Fleming lived in Austria<\/strong><\/p>\n

There is an longstanding connection between James Bond and Austria<\/a>. Ian Fleming, the author of the Bond novels, lived in Kitzb\u00fchel in the 1920s.<\/p>\n
