This amazing feat was achieved in the stunning backdrop of Engadin near St.Moritz in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.chaletline.co.uk\/switzerland\">Switzerland<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/pvPKs-FL8Jg\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>Ice was too unstable<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The initial plan was to use the frozen lake of St. Moritz, but the ice was deemed too unstable by the authorities.<\/p>\n<p>Barrow then moved the his attempt to a small airport in the picturesque Engadin valley.<\/p>\n<p>After extensive negotiations and battling against strict Swiss regulations, the date was finally set for Saturday 31st January.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Filmed for the Discovery Channel<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A\u00a0luxurious and powerful PC12 aircraft was used to tow Jamie. \u00a0It was piloted by by the charismatic Swiss pilot Duri Jos and filmed by the Discovery Channel.<\/p>\n<p>Timing was crucial to allow other scheduled takeoffs and landings to take place.<\/p>\n<p>The rope used to tow Jamie is the same as used in wakeboarding. \u00a0With only a wooden handle to grasp onto, Jamie had to concentrate like never before.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div title=\"Page 2\">\n<p>After a few more final adjustments, Jamie gave the go ahead and the PC-12 started to accelerate rapidly down the runway, the rope tightened and Jamie sped down the snowy grass strip in a straight line.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.chaletline.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/jamie-barrow.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-626\" src=\"http:\/\/www.chaletline.co.uk\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/jamie-barrow.png\" alt=\"jamie barrow\" width=\"587\" height=\"288\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>&#8216;Composed and in control&#8217;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Everyone held their breath as the aircraft powered down the runway knowing how easy it would be for Jamie to catch an edge or be pulled onto the tarmac.<\/p>\n<p>They need not have worried as Jamie looked composed and in control throughout.
