Choose a chalet with free wifi<\/strong><\/p>\n These days most chalets do have wifi available, but if you use the ‘advanced search<\/a>‘ feature on Chaletline.co.uk, you can produce a list of all chalets, with wifi, for the resort and date you want to travel.<\/p>\n 2. Buy a roaming package for your smartphone<\/strong><\/p>\n If you love using your phone, then be very wary of switching on roaming while in Europe. \u00a0Charges for calls and texts can be high, although have been limited by a new EU ruling. \u00a0However, data can cost even more.<\/p>\n A survey by ‘Which’ showed that to upload 10 photos and make three posts could cost as much as \u00a350, although new rules mean a \u00a342 cap applies. \u00a0 If you do plan to use the Internet a lot, a roaming package such as Vodafone’s ‘Eurotraveller’ service could save you money.<\/p>\n 3. Use free wifi on the mountain<\/strong><\/p>\n A new innovation that will become more popular is wifi on lifts and at lift stations. \u00a0Val Thorens<\/a> became the first resort to offer this in 2012 and extended the offer to Orelle last season.<\/p>\n 4. Use free wifi in a cafe or bar<\/strong><\/p>\n You are always going to be on a time limit in a lift, so a more relaxing way to check your emails and Facebook is to go to a cafe at the end of the day. \u00a0A nice hot chocolate is the perfect accompaniment to boasting (sorry, ‘posting’) about your fantastic day on the mountain. \u00a0Try the Quiksilver Cafe<\/a> in Val d’Isere or Evolution<\/a> in Meribel.<\/p>\n 5.
