It was back in 1955 that the Val d\u2019Is\u00e8re<\/a> Club des Sports first invited the world\u2019s top racers to compete against each other.<\/p>\n

Since then the resort has been the focal point every December for the start of the ski racing season in Europe.<\/p>\n

These days the annual festival of racing is the venue for World Cup events, as the FIS Alpine racing circuit moves back to Europe from its initial events in Beaver Creek in the States<\/a> and Lake Louise in Canada<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The famous Face de Bellevarde<\/strong><\/p>\n

This winter the men\u2019s races take place from the 11th to 13th of December on the famously steep and technical Face de Bellevarde \u2013 just above the village of Val d\u2019Isere.<\/p>\n

Saturday 12 December will see the Men\u2019s Giant Slalom<\/a>, followed by the Men\u2019s Slalom on Sunday 13 December.<\/p>\n

Improved viewing conditions<\/strong><\/p>\n

To mark reaching this special 60th<\/sup> anniversary milestone, the race finish arena has been extended to the roof of the Centre Aquasportif<\/a>. This will give spectators a much-improved view of the racers.<\/p>\n

Women’s races in Val d’Isere<\/strong><\/p>\n

The women\u2019s World Cup circuit will come to the resort the following week from 16-19 December, when they will take part in the Downhill and Combined events.\u00a0 These events will take place on the OK downhill course above La Daille.<\/p>\n
