Obviously we’d prefer to be out on the slopes, but if you can’t make it there in person, Google are making it easier than ever to imagine you’re there.
First resort with ‘Piste View’ was Whistler
After starting with Whistler in the lead up to the Vancouver Winter Olympics, Google has now mapped 75 different ski resorts in North America and Europe using their ‘Street View’ technology.
This video tells you a little bit about Google’s original motivation and how they manage to film ‘Piste View’:
75 ski resorts already available
There are now 75 resorts with ‘Piste View’ available. You can view them all on this map (click to open the map in a new window).
Andorra, France and Italy all featured
The majority of the resorts are in Scandinavia (the Norwegian Google office have obviously been busy).
Resorts more popular with the British include Grandvalira and Vallnord in Andorra, Val Thorens in France and Cervinia in Italy.
No doubt more resorts will be added in due course, so whether you are planning your holiday or just missing the snow, Google may well (again) be your first port of call…
…after booking your catered chalet holiday through Chaletline, of course!
