Chamonix is always a ski resort with plenty going on. As well as building new lifts, the resort hosts a number of events every winter.
Hot on the heels of the World Freeride Tour, which was held in Chamonix last weekend, next month sees back to back weekends of big events.
Chamonix Adventure Festival – Wed 25 to Sat 28 March 2015
First up is the Chamonix Adventure Festival. This has switched seasons but the spirit of the event remains unchanged.
It aims to bring together adventurers, explorers, athletes and enthusiasts from near and far, to share tales and showcase their talents through film, photography, art and displays.
Black Week-End organized by Black Crows Skis – Friday 03 to Monday 06 April 2015
The following weekend sees a celebration of ‘wild skiing’. There’s off piste, ski tests, tartiflette and a ‘hot dog’ (parallel mogul skiing), organized by Black Crows skis.
Add in twenty live music acts and DJ sets, performed on three stages around the resort, including two on the mountain, and the Black Weekend is clearly one not to miss.
Les Piolets d’Or – Thursday 9 to Saturday 11 April
If that wasn’t enough, the following weekend sees the Piolets d’Or – a celebration of passion, spirit and the values associated with alpinism.
Each year, this awards ceremony pays tribute to the previous year’s most outstanding achievements, and honour the overall career of one of the world’s most foremost alpinists.
