Thinking ahead to next season already? We know how you feel. So we’ve put together this useful guide to the opening dates for some of the main ski resorts in France for this winter:
Tignes Opening Date 2015/16
Tignes will be the first to open on Saturday 03 October 2015, when the Grande Motte glacier reopens.
Les 2 Alpes Opening Date 2015/16
If you’re really desperate for skiing then you can head to Les 2 Alpes now, as the resort is open for summer skiing.
However, the lifts close again at the end of August, before opening for the annual ‘Enjoy the Glacier’ event for one week from 24 October. The main opening will be on 05 December 2015.
Val Thorens Opening Date 2015/16
Assuming the snow cover is on target, then Europe’s highest ski resort – Val Thorens – plans to open on 21 November 2015.
Val d’Isere Opening Date 2015/16
Just one week later than Val Thorens, the Tarentaise resort of Val d’Isere will open for the season on Saturday 28 November 2015.
Other French ski resort opening dates
Most of the other higher French ski resorts, such as Courchevel, Alpe d’Huez, Chamonix and Serre Chevalier will open on the weekend of 5/6 December 2015, with all other resorts (weather conditions permitting) the following weekend.
