Les Menuires comes into this season off the back of its 50th anniversary earlier this year with some great new improvements for 2015/16.
New Bouquetin blue run
Top of the list is the new ‘Bouquetin’ blue run, which will now allow beginners to ski down from the famous La Masse peak.
New Chairlifts
The old Saint Martin 2 chairlift will be replaced by the brand new Saint Martin Express – a six-seater chairlift.
The new lift is both comfortable and covered to shelter skiers when it’s windy. The new capacity will increase to 2400-3200 people per hour.
There is also a new Bettaix chairlift which will move 2400 people per hour and offer direct access to the Les Menuires ski area and La Croisette in less than 5 minutes – 10 minutes faster than the old lift.
The Yeti Race
In March a new competition – The Yéti race – will see teams of two compete in a 20km running race on snow, which will combine orientation, strength, agility and endurance.
Third Michelin Star
This year, La Bouitte has become the first restaurant in whole of the Savoie departement to win a third Michelin star.
Being awarded any Michelin star is a superb achievement, so huge congratulations go to the self-taught father and son team René and Maxime Meilleur and their Saint Martin colleagues.
