5 Great Reasons to Take Your Family to Meribel this winter

Meribel is one of the best resorts in the world already, but this winter there are more reasons to take your family there on a skiing holiday.

The Heart of the Three Valleys

Meribel has been popular for decades with British guests for good reason.  Its location at the centre of Les 3 Vallees – the largest ski area in the world – is perfect for exploring this huge domain.

Add to that a large choice of traditional Savoyarde chalets (we feature 60 catered chalets in Meribel) and English-speaking ski schools with a great reputation and it’s easy to see why it’s such a popular choice for families.

This winter there are 6 more great reasons to take your family to Meribel:

  1. Free wifi across the resort

This may only apply to the older members of your party, but if you have a teen who’s desperate to stay connected with their pals on Instagram or Snapchat, then the addition of new wifi hotspots around the ski area will keep them onside.

The hotspots can be found in various locations, including La Chaudanne, the Moon Park, the bottom of Mont Vallon, the top of the Saulire Express (not a bad spot to Tweet from!) and the Tougnete chairlift.

2. The Altai Dragon Trail

This is a great activity for younger children.  Try and find the dragons hidden on this piste coming down from the top of the Loze chairlift.

We’re not entirely sure how realistic this image is – it could be that the dragons are very easy to find!

3. The Animal Piste

This is another fun activity for younger children, and also educational.  Located at the start of the Dent du Bergin chairlift (go to the midstation of the Saulire Express, then follow the signs to Altiport).

This path through the forest gives younger (and older) guests the chance to learn about the animals that live in the forest, the tracks they leave and the sounds they make.

4. Racing time!

The parallel slalom course in Altiport will give you a chance to settle all the arguments about who is the fastest in the family once and for all.

It’s filmed and timed and free.  So become a Klammer or a Killy and show your son/daughter/mum/dad what you’re made of!

5. Say ‘cheese’ – it’s time for a family photo

New this year is the addition of a free photo point at the top of the Roc de Fer and the Saulire.

There are large photo frames spread across the Three Valleys, but at this point you can swipe your lift pass and your photo will automatically be taken and then sent to you.

This map shows you where to head to have your free photo taken:
