Les 2 Alpes has announced that it will invest more than €500 million over the next four years in improving the resort’s infrastructure.
Four new ski lifts
The new plans include four
new ski lifts as well as a reconfiguration of pistes to allow the resort to control
the flow of skiers.
1. The Pierre Grosse is a new 8-seater gondola, constructed
by the Swiss manufacturer Bartholet. The new lift will carry 2400 skiers and
snowboarders per hour over 954m of vertical ascent.
It will link La Fée (2221m) to the Les 2 Alpes glacier at 3175m providing new access to this high-altitude ski area. It will also mean more skiers will end up visiting this charming, but less visited areas.
2. The Les Crêtes sector will see a new 8-seater detachable chairlift installed at 2100m to replace the current four-seater chairlift.
The new lift will be faster and will improve passenger flow in the same way that the 8-seater detachable chairlift installed in La Toura in 2018 did, lifting capacity to 3200 people an hour.
3. A new 4-seater detachable chairlift on Le Thuit sector will replace the old three-seater chair and provide a faster connection to the high-altitude skiing in Les Crêtes.
4. The fourth new lift will see the Super Venosc fixed chairlift (on the Vallée Blanche sector) relocated so that it runs over a shorter and faster route.
Increasing visitor numbers
The resort is also planning to increase the residential capacity of the resort, adding 3500 new beds by 2023.
Their goal is to increase visitor numbers by 300,000 extra overnights in winter and 100,000 more in summer.
Les 2 Alpes opens in October
Almost one in every five of all visitors to Les 2 Alpes come from the UK, second only to France. With over 70% of the ski area above 2000m, you can be confident ski conditions will be good.
With skiing available on their glacier, Les 2 Alpes can offer reliable snow and will open next month from 26 October to 02 November, then again for the winter from 30 November.
