Zell am See-Kaprun has spent this summer investing €81.5 million in a new lift to be known as the ‘K-onnection’.
The new lift will open on 30 November and will complete the link between Kaprun and the Kitzsteinhorn’s glacier.
The new six-stage gondola will travel 12km, rising a mighty 2158m from the base station at 768m to 2926m at its peak.
The first tri-cable gondola in Salzburgerland
The ‘K-onnection’ will be the first tri-cable gondola in Salzburgerland, Austria and will feature the world’s first 360° glass-sided ATRIA cabins.
Each cabin has room for 32 passengers. The journey from Maiskogel to Langwied (1975m) will take 9 minutes. The Kitzsteinhorn offers reliable snow from October into spring.

Zell am See now links with Saalbach Hinterglemm
The zellamseeXpress will open on 07 December and will complete the connection between Zell am See’s Schmittenhöhe ski area and Viehhofen in the Glemm Valley, carrying up to 2800 skiers per hour.
From here a 5km bus takes skiers to lifts for Saalbach and links to Hinterglemm, Leogang and Fieberbrunn.
The new lift has 25 Jukeboxx cabins, carrying ten skiers in each on heated seats (!). The wifi even connects to your smartphone so you can play your own music.
