Could it be that ski shows are just like buses?
After the long-running Telegraph Ski & Snowboard Show was cancelled earlier this year you wait for ages and then suddenly two arrive at once.
The World’s Largest Ski Show
First off the blocks is the self-styled ‘World’s Largest Ski Show’. This is envisaged as a virtual show, so in theory the number of people who could attend is limitless.
You’ll be able to log in over the four days of the show for free and watch sessions and presentations by industry figures such as Warren Smith, Dave Ryding, Glen Plake and more.
There will be retailers, destinations and tour operators available for you to ‘meet’ online and ask your questions with over Zoom.
The show will run over two days from Friday 13 November to Saturday 14 November 2020
The National Snow Show
This is a more traditional ‘show’ in that it is due to take place at the NEC in Birmingham, but over a year later than the WLSS on Friday 23 and Saturday 24 October 2021.
They are holding off until next year even though last month the UK government gave permission for conferences and events to go ahead again from 01 October.
Guidance for shows at present requires the following measures are in place:
- Attendees need to pre-book and pre-register
- Contactless registration systems to reduce waiting time
- A digital first approach will be adopted to eliminate the need for physical badges
- Paper handouts and gifts will no longer be offered
- Entrance will be staggered to reduce queuing and overall capacity will be limited
- Events will be planned around one-way systems for visitors
- Spaces between exhibition booths will be increased and aisles widened
- All venues will also have enhanced cleaning procedures
- At present it’s not clear if masks would have to be worn
