Les 3 Vallées is the world’s largest ski area with over 600km of pistes, but they’re not resting on their laurels ahead of the 2021/22 season.
Here are four new lifts that you can look forward to in the resorts of Les 3 Vallées on your ski holiday this winter:
Bouquetin, Méribel
This new six-seater high-speed chairlift in Méribel has replaced the old ‘Plattières 3’ gondola. The new lift will whisk you to the slopes of Saint-Martin de Belleville and Les Menuires in just two and a half minutes.
Quicker and more comfortable, this lift is more energy-efficient and blends better into its environment. It’s also open to pedestrians, allowing them to explore more of the Les 3 Vallées.
La Masse, Les Menuires
This new state-of-the-art, 10-seater gondola is part of a part of a €22 million redevelopment project on the La Masse ski area in Les Menuires this winter.
The impressive lift is 3318m long, with a 1050m height difference and a speed of 7 m/s. It now means that in both winter and summer, skiers and pedestrians can reach the summit in less than 8 minutes instead of the original 25 minutes. The total hourly capacity is 2800 people.
Olympe, Méribel
Regular visitors to our blog will remember that when the old Olympe bubbles were auctioned in the summer, they were snapped up in only 10 minutes.
The previous cabins have been replaced by taller ones which hold six people, and can now be accessed without steps.
The Olympe gondola takes skiers and snowboarders between Brides-les-Bains and Méribel.
Cime de Caron, Orelle/Val Thorens
The ‘3 Vallées Express’ lift has been replaced by the new ‘Orelle’ gondola and with the addition of the new ‘Orelle-Caron’ extension will reduce the time from Orelle to Cime Caron to just 20 minutes.
The maximum capacity is 2500 people per hour, who will travel in 87 bubbles over the first section and 44 in the second section. It’s also open to pedestrians, who can connect directly to Val Thorens in just 45 minutes if they want a day out.
