The old ‘3 Vallées Express’ gondola connecting the French ski resort of Orelle in the Maurienne Valley with Val Thorens has been replaced and upgraded for this winter season.
The new ‘Orelle’ gondola links with the ‘Orelle-Caron’ to connect the resort with the top of Cime Caron.
The new lifts were made possible due to investment from the Région Auvergne Rhône-Alpes and creates a direct link between Orelle and Val Thorens.
It will be accessible to both skiers or pedestrians enabling them to visit Val Thorens without using either slopes or roads.
Once at the 3195m peak, pedestrians can then take the Cime Caron cable car to descend to the centre of Val Thorens. That whole journey will take less than 45 minutes.
