Brave mountain bikers looking for thrills can finish the winter season in style in the ‘Sarenne Snowbike’ race in Alpe d’Huez.
This is a unique opportunity to ride the 16 kilometres of the famous black run on a mountain bike.
2000m vertical descent
The start is from the summit of the Pic Blanc at an altitude of 3330m – the highest point in the Alpe d’Huez ski area. It’s then nearly 2000 metres of vertical drop along the 16km groomed piste of the Sarenne.
It’s a non-timed event, so it’s all about the taking part and using your skills and passion until you reach the satellite village of Huez at 1460m for the finishers’ BBQ.
Race Day: Saturday 23 April
The event takes place on Saturday 23 April. At 8am, competitors will meet at the Rond Point des Pistes lift ticket office, before boarding the gondola at 8.30am. The race will start at 9.30am.
All competitors have access to the lifts on skis for the rest of the day or can go mountain biking on the Huez pistes, below the Télévillage.
