Britain’s Best Ski & Snowboard Medal Prospects for Milano-Cortina Olympics

As the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics approach, Great Britain’s skiers and snowboarders head to Italy with genuine medal ambitions across multiple freestyle and snowboard disciplines.

From park and pipe to head-to-head snowboard cross, a new generation of British athletes is arriving on the Olympic stage backed by World Cup wins, world titles and X Games success.

Here, we take a closer look at GB Snowsport’s strongest medal prospects for 2026 — and how their recent form stacks up when it comes to Olympic podium potential.

Kirsty Muir — 21 | Freeski Slopestyle & Big Air

Muir has had a breakthrough season heading into the Games, winning multiple World Cup events and capturing X Games slopestyle gold in Aspen as one of her standout results. She also claimed World Cup wins in both slopestyle and big air, showing she’s competitive against the world’s best in both events.

Overall medal probability: Strong (especially in slopestyle)

Charlotte Bankes — 30 | Snowboard Cross

Bankes remains Britain’s most experienced snowboard cross racer, with 25+ World Cup wins and strong results across the season. However, snowboard cross is notoriously unpredictable — chaotic races, close margins, and heat formats mean that the best racers don’t always convert form into medals.

Bankes has experience on her side, and a second chance of a medal in the mixed team event with her teammate Huw Nightingale.

Overall medal probability: Moderate – medal possible but event unpredictable.

Mia Brookes — 19 | Snowboard Slopestyle & Big Air

Brookes has arguably been Britain’s standout snowsport athlete this season, with multiple World Cup victories, X Games gold in slopestyle, and early season big air wins.

Slopestyle: A genuine gold contender — she has already beaten many of her likely Olympic competitors in major events this season.

Big Air: Also strong — she has already won World Cup big air events in the 2025-26 season and packs the technical tricks (like cab 1440) required to challenge for medals.

Overall medal probability: Very high – strong shot at gold in one or both events

Zoe Atkin — 23 | Freeski Halfpipe

Atkin enters Milan-Cortina as a reigning World Champion in halfpipe and a World Cup winner, delivering consistent elite performances. Recent season momentum includes a win at the X Games and her clean, high-amplitude runs make her one of Team GB’s best medal prospects.

The discipline has strong international rivals (including athletes like Eileen Gu from China), but Atkin’s championship form and World Cup results place her high.
