A major lift upgrade in the 4 Vallées ski area in Switzerland will make getting around Nendaz quicker this winter.
Swiss lift manufacturer Bartholet is constructing a new high-speed six-seater chairlift linking Les Chottes, La Meina and Greppon Blanc.
The new lift is scheduled to open in December 2026 and will replace three ageing installations: the Chottes and La Meina drag lifts and the existing two-seater Greppon Blanc chairlift.
It represents a significant modernisation of this part of the ‘4 Vallées’ ski area, one of Switzerland’s largest interconnected ski domains, that also includes Verbier.
More comfort and uplift capacity
The new detachable chairlift will feature six-seater chairs with protective bubbles – which all skiers love on a snowy day. It will be substantial improvement in comfort over the current drag lifts and old two-seater chair.
The new lift will have an uplift capacity of 2600 skiers per hour, reducing queues and making the connection through the area much more efficient.
A new mid-station for beginners
A mid-station is being installed at the base location of the current Greppon Blanc chairlift.
This means skiers will be able to get off part-way up, offering less experienced skiers access to the easier pistes in the lower section without having to ride all the way to the top.
Scheduled to open in December 2026
Construction began in September 2025 and the new lift is scheduled to open in December 2026.
It is part of a CHF116 million investment in the lift system by the Nendaz-Veysonnaz lift company. The next significant development is expected to be the replacement of the Nendaz–Tracouet gondola with a new ten-passenger lift and is expected to open in 2028.
