New Porsche Gondola for Alpe d’Huez

We regularly bring you news of new lifts and changes in ski resorts, but it’s not often that a ski lift gets designed by a company like Porsche!

But that’s what’s happening in Alpe d’Huez this winter. Technically the new gondola is in Vaujany rather than Alpe d’Huez where €21 million has been spent on upgrading the lifts and pistes.

The piece de resistance is the new Porsche-designed Enversin gondola. The eight-seater’s all-black cabins will open this December and cost almost €6 million.

There will also be a new piste extending the La Vaujaniate run to help improve the way skiers descend the hill on the Montfrais section of the ski area.

New ‘Alpine Coaster’

Other improvements in Alpe d’Huez for this winter will see a new luge, or ‘Alpine Coaster’. If you’ve never tried one of these, we highly recommend it.

The new luge in the Les Bergers area of resort will be similar to those already existing in Les Saisies, Chamonix and Les Menuires.
