What’s New in La Rosiere for Winter 2022/23

Much loved by families, La Rosière is not quite a hidden gem, but is often ignored in favour of the nearby and more famous Tarentaise resorts of Tignes, Val d’isere and Les Arcs.

With south-facing slopes that mean days in the sun and a link to La Thuile in Italy offering international connections, La Rosière should be on your list if you’ve never been.

We look at what’s new in the ‘Espace San Bernardo’ ski area, where 80% of the 154km of slopes are located above 1850m.

PARADiS – A new mountain restaurant

After a successful opening in the summer of 2022, this new dining option on the slopes is getting ready for its first winter season.

Located by La Rosière’s golf course [players should check out the new winter golf tournament detailed below], this high-altitude eatery boasts stunning views and room for 120 diners outside and 170 indoors.

On the menu there’s plenty to warm you up and satisfy even the most demanding appetites with elegantly produced dishes combining traditional recipes with creative flair.

It also uses a wood pellet boiler to heat the building and water, plus a rainwater harvesting system.

Picnics are now easier

This is great news for families looking to save a little on costs. The ‘La Salle à Manger’ is located on the top floor of the Maison du Ski.

It opened this year and is available for anyone to bring and eat their packed lunch, sheltered from the elements. It’s another reason why La Rosière carries the ‘Famille Plus’ accreditation for family friendly ski resorts.9

Reduce Emissions, Save Money

La Rosière is supportive of all methods of reducing emissions and the most effectively way you can do this on your ski holiday is by travelling by train.

This winter all rail travellers to Bourg St Maurice will be eligible for a 15% discount on their lift pass. Find out more about train travel to the Alps at Ski Flight Free.

La Rosière began the process to obtain the ‘Flocon Vert’ sustainability label in June 2022. It’s hoped that accreditation will be awarded spring 2023.

Try ‘Snow Golf’

Have you ever played in the snow? This could be the year for golf lovers to try it for the first time as on 30 March 2023, La Rosière is organising its first ‘Snow Golf’ tournament.

Open to pros, semi-pros and amateurs alike, the tournament will see teams of two face off on a 3-hole course.
