More great results for GB Snowsport athletes

The results keep coming for GB Snowsport athletes this winter, making the 2022/23 winter season one of the best ever.

Snowboard Cross

Crystal Globe holder Charlotte Bankes recorded her second World Cup victory of the season at the Cortina d’Ampezzo World Cup last week, putting her second in the overall standings.

Ski Freestyle

Kirsty Muir and Zoe Atkin both returned to the World Cup podium at the Mammoth Mountain Freestyle World Cup last weekend.

Muir’s took second place in Ski Slopestyle, while Atkin matched that result with a silver in the Ski Halfpipe.

Alpine Ski

Many readers will already know that Dave Ryding followed up his win in the slalom at Kitzbuhel in 2022 with another podium in January.

His second place this winter was his 6th World Cup podium finish and secures his place as Britain’s most successful Alpine skier. Pretty impressive for a man who, at 36, was the oldest racer in the field.

Moguls Ski

At the other end of her career is 23 year-old Makayla Gerken Schofield, who took her first World Cup podium with third place in Val St. Come Dual Moguls.

Snowboard Slopestyle

Even younger and even more impressive, snowboarder Mia Brookes took silver at the Laax Open Snowboard Slopestyle World Cup in January.

This is Brookes’ first season on the senior World Cup circuit as she is only 16 years old. She is fitting in her appearances in the World Cup around studying for her GCSEs!

Brookes’ World Cup career has now yielded a ninth place, a fifth place, and a runner’s up spot across three World Cups.
