Always a favourite ski resort with Chaletline guests, there’s always plenty to look forward to in Val d’Isère.
The slopes opened at the end of November and with 300km of pistes to enjoy in the Espace Killy, there’s something for skiers of all abilities.
Let’s take a look at what’s new in Val d’Isère this winter.
New Vallon gondola
The biggest news is the new Vallon gondola, which replaces the old chairlift. It’s going to be significantly quicker, with the 10-person cabins taking just 6 minutes 30 seconds to reach the top at 2790m.
It will give excellent access to the Pisaillas glacier from the Fornet sector, plus the new lift has benefits for the ecology as well, as 32 of the previous pylons were dismantled.
La Folie Douce redesigned
Amazingly, it’s now 30 years since La Folie Douce opened in Val d’Isère.
This iconic venue was the first Folie Douce to open in the Alps, and for its anniversary year, it will be launching a complete redesign of its ‘La Fruitiere’ restaurant.
In addition, from January 2026, La Petite Cuisine – their gourmet-quality, canteen-style restaurant – will reopen with a completely redesigned concept. Inspired by the Guggenheim Museum, the new design will be both cosy and modern.
More electric buses
Val d’Isère has added four new electric buses as part of the resort’s journey to reduce its carbon footprint. The goal is to operate a 100% electric fleet planned by 2026.
The free navette service covers the whole resort, linking the various hamlets and the slopes, all day long (every 5 minutes) and into the early hours (up to 2am).
The Bearded Vulture Trail
This new themed trail on the Bellevarde massif will appeal to families and nature lovers alike.
‘La trace du Gypaète’ is a fun activity for children, which includes a giant xylophone and a tunnel in the shape of this bird of prey, as well as ways to learn more about this famous emblem of the French Alps.
Val d’Isère is open from 30 November 2024 to 04 May 2025
