New Six-Seater Aiguille Percée chairlift for Tignes

This winter Tignes will open the new six-seater Aiguille Percée chairlift, representing a major upgrade on access to one of the most iconic peaks of the French Alps.

The older fixed-grip quad chair has now been removed and replaced by the new Aiguille Percée chair.

It is a high-speed detachable lift which will travel at six metres per second with a capacity of 2800 skiers per hour.

Built by Poma, the fast chairlift will also have heated seats and wind-protection making it a smoother, more enjoyable ride — even on the coldest, windiest days.

The old four-person chairlift is being replaced

The Aiguille Percée lift represents the final phase in a two-year modernisation of the lift system in the Tignes le Lac and Tignes les Brévières sectors, following the replacement of the nearby Marais chairlift last season.

Together, these projects mark the completion of a network overhaul that significantly reduces wait times and streamlines access across the south-facing terrain.

The Aiguille Percée is famous for its dramatic rock arch and breathtaking views over the Vanoise National Park and is among Tignes’ most photographed spots.

Most famously, it featured in a viral video by freeride pioneer Candide Thovex, who flew through it his trademark, gravity-defying style.
