The Freeride World Tour is coming to Val Thorens this winter.
After eight years without an event in France, the competition will take place at the highest resort in Les 3 Vallées from 27 January to 01 February 2025.
The world’s best freeriders will seek out the best freeride lines on the legendary 3200m Cime Caron face in a competition that promises to be spectacular.
First time hosting for Val Thorens
This stage is a coup for Val Thorens, which had not previously hosted the Freeride World Tour. It has the advantage of its high altitude, which means it is normally the first French ski resort to open and last to close.
The 2025 series of Freeride World Tour 2025 will start in Baqueira Beret in Spain a week beforehand from 18-23 January before coming to Val Thorens. It will then move on to Canada, Georgia and Austria with the season final taking place in Verbier, Switzerland, on the famous Bec des Rosses face from 22-30 March.
The Freeride World Tour was founded in 2008 and is now essential watching for extreme sports fans. Previous winners have included global stars such as Candide Thovex, Xavier de Le Rue and Jérémie Heitz.
Each event has four categories: women skiers, women snowboarders, men skiers and men snowboarders.
Val Thorens will also host the Ski Cross World Cup in December 2024.
