The Best Ski April Fools of 2025

We all love a good April Fool, especially when it’s about skiing! Here are some of the best we spotted from the world of snowsports this year…

Verbier creates ‘Raclette Wax’ for skis

It’s hard to believe that this new invention has taken so long. Verbier has worked with Toko, the leading producer of ski wax, to create a new and unique product made with Raclette du Valais cheese from the local area.

They claim that this new Raclette Wax actually helps Swiss skier Justin Murisier win his first World Cup at Beaver Creek…

Alpe d’Huez introduce pedal-powered gondola

Ski resorts are always looking for new ways to become more sustainable and Alpe d’Huez have stepped up with this new lift.

Lift company staff will now pedal away to create clean energy to power the resort’s lifts.

Rainbow pistes in Paradiski

Have you ever thought that all-white slopes are slightly too boring? Fear not, the Paradiski area of Les Arcs and La Plagne are now adding colour to their pistes (with biodegradable paint, so don’t worry!)

Accredited skiers only in Val d’Isère

Accidents on the slopes are an increasing problem, but Val d’Isère has a solution. From now on access to the slopes will only be permitted to holders of the new ‘Pass Bon Skieur’ (‘Good Skier Pass’).

‘My Epic Alpaca’ in Breckenridge

Breckenridge is now offering a new benefit to Epic Pass holders, who can now rent an alpaca for long mountain hikes.

No longer do you need to strap your skis to your backpack to access hard to reach backcountry powder stashes – simply let your alpaca do the hard work!
