Red Bull 400 returns to Courchevel: The World’s Steepest Race is back

400 meters doesn’t sound like much—until it’s straight uphill. That’s what the Red Bull 400 race in Courchevel is…!

The Red Bull 400 returns to Courchevel next month on 13 July for the fifth time. Competitors have to climb the Olympic ski jump in Courchevel Le Praz – a short-but-savage sprint.

400 vertical metres at 36°

Athletes have to conquer 400 vertical meters on a brutal 36° incline – and at altitude, with the start at 1300m. It’s a gut-punching, leg-burning, breath-stealing climb that’s not for the faint of heart.

Unbelievably, the fastest runners will take around 200 seconds (the course record is 3m21s) to complete the climb.

It’s quite an event to take part in or to spectate and is accompanied by live entertainment, with a high-energy after-party and fireworks.
