The 3-star Hotel La Montana is an excellent slopeside hotel, right in the centre of La Tania. From outside the boot room, you can clip on your skis and away you go along the gentle green run to the main gondola that’s less than a minute away.

When you’re back from exploring the Three Valleys, there’s a small indoor pool as well as a sauna and steam room to help you unwind before dinner. And if you want to treat yourself, you can also book a massage. The hotel’s large bar and lounge are great for getting together for a drink by the open fireplace, and you can enjoy the occasional live music, too. For the kids, the games area is just off the lounge and has a couple of pool tables and computer arcade games.

There are various room types to choose from – all of them spacious, comfortable and simply decorated. Every room also has its own balcony, and you can either choose a piste view or one overlooking the valley. They all have a flatscreen TV, free WiFi and tea and coffee-making facilities.

When it comes to mealtimes, you’ll start the day with ample of choice on the continental buffet breakfast to get you ready for a day on the slopes. And if you’re back from 4-5pm, you can help yourself to afternoon tea and cakes. In the evening, there are two restaurants serving everything from hearty classics to local à la carte specialities. But don’t miss the weekly Savoyard evening, serving traditional favourites like raclette or fondue.
