Rustic décor, friendly staff and a spot-on location – it’s not hard to see why the Hotel Sauze’s a popular pick every winter. Each morning, grab your gear from the heated boot room and walk 5 minutes to the lift. Then later on, simply swoosh down the main Clotes piste to finish your ski day opposite the hotel.
Inside, things are warm and inviting – picture textured, timber panelling and exposed wooden beams. The theme continues in the bedrooms, which are a restful place to end the day. Vintage ski art and old photos decorate the walls, with cherry-red quilts to add a dash of colour. And as an extra perk, some rooms also have their own balcony, so you can step outside to take in snow-covered views.
Italy’s known for its food, and they definitely don’t let the side down here. Each day starts with a varied buffet spread where you can fill up on fruit, cereal and freshly cooked omelettes. If you’re feeling peckish after a session on the slopes, don’t miss the cakes and pastries at the afternoon tea. Then round off the day with three courses of regional favourites, like filled ravioli and risottos.
