Traditional hotel with a laid-back vibe.

This simple, central pick is perfect for a no-frills trip to Courmayeur. Bang in the middle of the car-free centre, you’ve got all the action of the village on your doorstep, from bars to restaurants. And most importantly, you’re an easy 5-minute stroll from the gondola – slope time here we come.

Back at the hotel, there’s an authentic feel from the moment you step inside, starting with the owners – the Vecchi family – who’ve run the place for over 60 years. Next up, it’s the looks. The bar and restaurant are decked out with textured wood panelling to match the timber cladding on the outside, and it’s the same story in the bedrooms too.

Moving onto mealtimes, and there’s a continental buffet spread to set you up for the day. Then in the evening, it’s all about traditional fare, with three courses of regional recipes to refuel you – not to mention a wine list packed with top-notch vintages from the local Aosta Valley.
